We worked with a sensitive urban site, the former car park to the Grade II Listed
Thorndike Theatre, creating a front elevation on The Crescent between two existing
buildings. The 30,000 sq ft area was built up over three levels, with a basement
car park and first-floor swimming pool. The material palette for our contemporary
insertion is a combination of red brick, sand cement render – chosen to relate to
the surrounding vernacular whilst being applied in a contemporary manner.
