Tenacity is an important characteristic of a good Planning Consultancy. We had promoted
a block of open land set in a woodland framework to the south of the Racecourse
for over ten years. Eventually, following our detailed submissions to the Local
Plan Inquiry, an Inspector recommended, and the Local Planning Authority accepted,
that the site should be allocated for the development of 180 dwellings. We subsequently
obtained a detailed planning consent before the site was sold to David Wilson Homes.
At the same Inquiry, alert to the future development potential of under-utilised
land with the Racecourse’s ownership, we succeeded in persuaded the Inspector to
recommend a realignment of the Settlement Policy Boundary, which paved the way for
the promotion of a major mixed use redevelopment scheme including 1500 dwellings
and enhancement works to the Racecourse infrastructure.
