Our architects were instructed by Spot Property Company to look at longer-term regeneration possibilities for a mixed use area of Camberwell in South East London.
The site includes a stretch of the High Street, as well as an adjacent surface car park and an anchor retail unit. Building on existing regeneration opportunities in the area, the proposals enlarge the existing supermarket, replace land-hungry surface car parking with an underground solution to free up valuable development land and provide active street frontages on all sides by wrapping the supermarket and car park with residential development. The scheme totals over 50,000 sq ft of retail space and provides 92 new homes.
Despite being a very urban site, the apartments benefit from generous level of open space through the provision of roof-top gardens. It will be a truly mixed-use scheme in a vibrant and dynamic London Borough.
